shrek

A funny movie for the whole family. Shrek had the perfect amount of fairy tale stories gone wrong with a twist. I am not one for animated stuff but it peaked my interests enough to watch it. I believe I was smiling through the whole movie. Editing was done well and the story line was hysterical.
If someone wants to see an amazing story board take a look at the deleted scenes extra.

monster

A horrifying true story that leaves you on the edge of your seat. this movie left me up all night with a bad taste in my mouth and a new appreciation for hookers.
This movie was written very well and was filmed almost perfect. Every scene was always clear to see and allowed for you to be lost in the movie.
The story line was crazy but what's even more is that its true

No Reservations

No Reservations is an amazing movie that will leave you with a feeling of calm. The story of a young women chief that wants noting to do with anyone else but has an amazing passion for cooking is some how pushing into raising a young girl and ultimately falls in love with her new sew chief. The movie will have you in tears and laughing at the same time.

The lighting in the movie was something to be in aw about. The use of shadows was amazing, especially in the knife scene. A main focus was defiantly on lighting, to set the mood. There were lots of candle lit scenes and bright but blurry out side scenes. there was only one camera shot that seemed as though it didn't fit and pulled you out of the movie. This was when the camera seemed to move in and out as it was zooming, I didn't care for it at all.

But over all the movie was a delight and very well though out and researched.

The Note Book

The note book is an amazing love story that will capture anyones heart. I felt like I was in a dream world and was drawn in by the story line of this movie. The setting for the movie was perfect in every way, and it wasn't one of those fake, the girl falls for boy kinda movies, in fact the guy falls for the girl first; imagine that.
Getting away from the sap, I though the lighting in this movie was impeccable. The shot were the main character(girl) is looking out the window at her old love, saying good bye to his now ex girl friend, the lighting in this shot was wonderful, making her face glow like an angel. Sound wasn't over powering which I liked, (although the main female characters screeching got annoying). The scenes make you feel as though you were there or dreaming, one of the two!
This is a movie I would suggest you go and buy, as well as the book!

diaries of a nanny

I my self am a nanny and thought this movie would be every interesting to watch. In a lot of ways this movie is extremely right in a lot of ways. The children do act this way and you do become attached to them. Every emotion I have ever felt being a nanny was brought out in this movie and not even to an extreme but dead on.
Lighting could have been worked on a little bit better, at times it was too dark, and I felt different lighting would have helped to not make the movie so drab looking. Sound was good noting special, but just what was intended for. everything else editing and camera seemed to be ok, even when the nanny cam was compromised (not thats funny and something I have always wanted to do!).

evan almighty

Evan almighty is a hilarious movie. It was actually better that I thought it was going to be, and I had no idea how it was going to end, but it ended well, with that fair tale ending. Special effects are something I always find cheesy, but had to be done here, and were done respectfully (enough and to the point). The movie was vary bright (light wise) for the most part and it had very good lighting over all. The choice of actors to play these parts were wonderful, except the wife, in my opinion she couldn't act to save her life, and in fact every time the movie had a scene with her I found it hard to believe, and couldn't really get into the story. The music that they choose I though to be one of the funnier parts of the movie, for they matched but just barely, but it really tied the movie into todays world. This is a wonderful movie for anyone young to old!

perfect score

Well this movie is definitely geared toward teenagers especially ones about to take the sat or have. The story is simple one boy convinces his best friend that they need to steal the answers to the SATs. Along the way they intentionally tell and unintentionally tell teenagers from all different walks of life what they are doing and ask them to be a part of it. Even when you don’t think they have any means of helping. They end up getting the answers but destroying them by accident. They then go on a wild chase to find them again. They end up finding the answers in them self’s and don’t cheating after all ( if you don’t count already looking at the test cheating). The movie was definitely twisted by schools or the makers of the SAT. But the part that I enjoyed the best was the truth behind everything that was said. These students were exactly right in the beginning of the movie, here every one in school is told and taught to be them self’s but the very last thing you do right before you graduate is take a standardized test, to make everyone equal. When in all reality it isn’t! I did get a few laughs out of the movie though. This movie wasn’t anything I would tell someone to go out and buy, but on a lazy Tuesday morning on spring break with nothing better to do then home work it wasn’t all that bad.

game plan

Game plan was a wonderful children’s movie for both boys and girls. The movie has to do with a father who doesn’t know he’s a father until one day his daughter shows up on his door steps. The movie shows the sacrifices made by this man in order to win his newly found daughters heart and how she (his daughter) gets him to do it. It has a twist through out the whole movie that keeps you drawn in and laughing the whole time. It is a very funny and heart filled movie, with an ending only made in the movies. Both the lighting and sound were average, nothing special.

memories of a geisha

This movie was an amazing story of a young girl ripped from her home and placed into a world of legalized high priced prostitution. This true story makes you want to hate it but, you are glued to the very things that you hate. The story starts off with two sisters separated from their family and then separated from one another forever. The bulk of the story is all about this little girl who eventually becomes the greatest Geisha ever known, and what had to happen in order to get their. Mixed in is a love story that at the end (with out giving it away) concludes but is not a happy ending; no fairytales here.
The lighting for this movie I believe to be amazing, and very well though out. You saw what you need to see and then some. It really caused for drama and excitement when needed. The sound on the other hand I didn’t really care for. Not only did you need to speak both Chinese and English to understand all that was said, but at times the music and background chatter or noise seemed to take over the words that needed to be focused on. I found my self many times asking the person next to me what did they just say, and they had no idea either.
But over all the entire movie was wonderful, but long. If you have 3-4 hrs to watch an amazing laid out movie this is the one for you! 

Rush Hour

Rush Hour was a very funny movie. It made all kinds of people (old, young, different races…) smile and laugh out loud at its stupid humor. Although some scenes could have been shot better, and lighting could have been a lot better the movie still worked for me.
One of my favorite scenes is when The Chinese food vendor man and one of the main characters get's into a word off with one another. They go on to saying thinks like “I am not no punk ass…”. Seeing an older Chinese man saying this just brought me in to hysterics. My favorite character in to movie was the little girl. She was so in your face and real that it really made the movie.
I enjoyed to movie and plan on watching the rest of the rush hours as well.

Knocked up

I had originally gone into this movie thinking it was going to be extremely stupid, but it was a recommendation from some friends, so I said ok I’ll watch it. It turned out to be a really good movie, defiantly a chick flick but all in all good, not what I expected.
The scene with the children playing with bubbles I though was the most beautiful scene in the whole movie, the lighting, sound, clarity, every thing was perfect.
One of the main characters (Ben- the soon to be daddy) was a typical college mess up, only not in college. I found it very hard to believe his character and all the wonderful things he did, although I don’t believe that was what the writers were looking for. I think they were just looking for the usual fairy tail. The annoying sister was just that annoying, and I though dragged the movie down at times.
Some of the scenes I found to be hysterical or unneeded were the sex and earthquake scenes. One of the sex scenes (after they find out she’s pregnant) was absolutely funny because he keeps freaking out he’s going to poke the baby in the head. It wasn’t played up, and I thought was the perfect amount of funny. The earth quake scene was very strange and I don’t think needed to be in the movie (but I do understand as to why it was put in). The only real complaint I have with this scene was you had no idea were you were, at first. The funny line in this scene was “O My God the Russians are coming”.
The ending really tied everything together, and although expected, it was done really beautifully.

Hudson Hawk

The movie Hudson Hawk is an extremely hysterical movie. This is one of the movies that you need to watch everything or you just might miss something. Bruce Willis is humorous in the faces he makes the songs he sings and everything in between. The story for Hudson Hawk was very well written with twists and turns that no one expects right up to the last scene. The play on language is amusing in the since that they are talking Italian and English in the same sentence. I am sure this was to help the audience but all in all back in the day, Italians weren’t speaking parts of English with their Italian (although they might now). Some of the small characters were what helped make the movie, like Kit Kat (he never so much as says a word). Some of the lines (like “I must talk to the dolphins now EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEE”) brought hours of laughter even after the movie. I could go on and on but over all the movie was, in my eyes a success it never lost my interest, and although not the best effects they worked well with what they had.

Blazing Saddles

This movie was a very interesting way of mocking every one, and every thing. I didn't care for it all that much, but I did find parts to be funny. In order to watch this movie you have to remember to leave all hard feelings at the door. The movie is an older one so one can't expect it to have wonderful scenes. For example the very begining was a desert with a small town, but one could easily see that it was infact just a minature scene that could be set on a table. The rest of the movie was shot in a way that didn't make you think too much about how they made the movie, untill the very end. In the end of the movie a fight brakes out and the fight goes off screen and is combined other scenes of other moives. This was to show that this movie is just a joke of everything, and everyone, including itself (but the sad part is how every thing that was said is true). If it weren't for some of the characters, the movie would have been a flop. I can see this movie becoming a somewhat musical you could go and see at the theater. I over all enjoyed the movie, and all the characters.

10 questions for the Dali Lama

The documentary 10 questions for the Dali Lama was a quick examination of the 14th Dali Lama's life. I only wish that there was more of the story of how he came to be, if you would like to see more of that story rent the movie Kundun. The begining of the documentary started off with a very high pitched voice and was very unfamiliar, but you later find out it's the voice of the 14th Dali Lama. Because the 14th Dali Lama has such a strong accent it is very unclear what he says. One thing that I appreciated was the fact that there were captions at the bottom of the screen as to what he said. All though this was great, the questions seemed to go round and round. The close up shots of the 14th Dali Lama and of other every day people were a good way to bring the story closer to the view, but need to be placed diffrently. One other thing I did not particulary care for was how the director did not introduce him self untill the middle of the moive, it was a shock when he just appeared in one of the senens. Over all it was a good choice of topic and very informative, but the little things are what make the movies, and the little things needed to be looked at a bit more in order to call this documentary great.
